The Project

For the last 18 months, we have been searching for a property to be Lyonsdown’s long-term home. In 99 East Barnet Road, it appears as though God is providing a wonderful site in which we can conduct our meetings and ministries. 

Located in the heart of New Barnet, it would provide us with a visible presence in the community we are seeking to reach with the Gospel. It is exciting to have the flexibility to develop the site to serve our ministry needs.

The property consists of two buildings separated by a courtyard. The building to the rear needs extensive work in order to be developed into the main meeting and ministry space. Ideally, this would include an extension containing an industrial kitchen and toilets, allowing us to maximise the existing structure for the main meeting/ministry space.

The building to the front has eight smaller rooms making it ideal for Sunday school, other midweek activities and office space. It would not require such extensive building work, but at this stage would simply be freshened up.

If all goes smoothly, completion of the purchase should go through in September, with building work commencing as soon as possible. The big prayer is that we would then be able to move straight in by April 2024, when our lease at Lyonsdown Hall expires.

Principles of Giving

As the tables indicate, we already have enough money for the purchase of the buildings.
However, the extent of the development will be constrained by the funds we have. Therefore,
we ask all who consider Lyonsdown to be their
church family, to prayerfully consider giving freewill offerings towards the project over and above their regular giving.

In 2 Corinthians 8-9 we see Paul commend the Macedonian Church for their generosity in financial giving. From here, we can draw the following principles to consider, which apply to
our giving generally and to this project. We are called to give:

• In response to God’s grace in Christ (8:8-9)

• According to our means and sacrificially (8:3, 11-12 and see Mark 12:41-44)

• Eagerly (8:4)

• Voluntarily and cheerfully (9:7)

• Trustingly (9:8)

• For the glory of God (9:11-12)

Response Form

I/we would like to give to Lyonsdown Church (Lyonsdown Church Partnership, registered charity number 1110881) for the purpose of acquiring and developing a building to use as a meeting and ministry space for the church. 

In the event that we are unable to purchase a property within two years, then the funds will be used for the charity’s general charitable purposes. Or if there are surplus funds left over once the project is complete, they will be used for the charity’s general charitable purposes.
